چکیده

Evacuations are a critical aspect of disaster management, and generally the first prevention measure to ensure the safety of the population under threat. Designing evacuation plans is a complex task that requires to take into account multiple factors in order to limit congestion and ensure that all evacuees reach safety in time. This paper proposes a conflict-based path-generation algorithm for evacuation planning and a web-based intelligent system targeted at local authorities and emergency services. The key contribution of this paper is to propose the first scalable approach to produce actionable evacuation plans that simultaneously schedules the evacuation and selects contraflow roads. The benefits of the approach are illustrated on two large-scale case studies. The resulting optimization model is integrated in NICTA EVACUATION PLANNER, a tool to model, plan, and simulate evacuations.

Simulation of Optimized Evacuation Processes based on Sub-Goal CA Model

With the full swing of computer technology, evacuation models are constructed and simulated via computers to study the various phenomena and behaviors during the evacuation process. They open unique potential opportunity to evaluate the architectural design and provide the decision support for the emergency evacuation plans. This paper details a capacity constrained route planner (CCRP) algorit...

Capacity Constrained Routing Algorithms for Evacuation Planning: A Summary of Results

Evacuation planning is critical for numerous important applications, e.g. disaster emergency management and homeland defense preparation. Efficient tools are needed to produce evacuation plans that identify routes and schedules to evacuate affected populations to safety in the event of natural disasters or terrorist attacks. The existing linear programming approach uses time-expanded networks t...

A case study on graph-based planning for emergency evacuation

We present a pilot study on the implementation of a software, based on declarative knowledge representation and logic-based automated planning, which assists the management of severe Chemical hazard events, e.g. fire or emissions that may require the evacuation of the area surrounding the affected Chemical plant. We model the geography, the road network and the population of the chemical plant ...

ABSTRACT Title of Thesis: TRAFFIC SIGNAL TIMING FOR URBAN EVACUATION

Title of Thesis: TRAFFIC SIGNAL TIMING FOR URBAN EVACUATION Ming Chen, Master of Science, 2005 Directed By: Dr. Elise Miller-Hooks Department of Civil Engineering Significant effort has been expended to reduce the evacuation time in a geographic evacuation. The majority of these efforts have focused on freeways and it appears that there has been no systematic consideration of signal timing in e...
